Hi, I am in process creating a new LPAR as a Backup for exsiting LPAR image in same Plex. Ours is a very small shop catering Trainings and other leased connection.
There are certain Services like TSO,VTAM,TCPIP which will be always kept active in Backup LPAR. There are some Products like DB2,CICS,Other Products which i do not want to run them instead want to keep inactive. Moment the Primary LPAR1 fails or goes on outage the products like DB2 or CICS or other product should have Signaling process where the inactive products can be activated automatically once the primary LPAR fails. I understand a manual intervention can be used to activate but is there a automated approach for this ? Any Suggestion or advises are much appreciated. The Idea is not to duplicate all the Services instead making LPAR2 as backup server, So that the Workloads are managed efficiently without the need of adding more CPU to the existing infrastructure.
