PS: VB and VBS are deadly traps for inexperienced programmers,
trust me. I had the 'privilege' to heal those programmers wounds
caused by messy and dirty abends...
40+ years ago I ran into something like this. Someone thought they
could save tape by using VBS so they thought all they had to do was
essentially change the JCL.
So I get called in at 0000 to fix a strange abend. AFter chewing
through a COBOL dump I had to run to the them current cobol manuals
and found out that at the time the version of COBOL we were at didn't
support VBS.
They had to change all the JCL and restart from the first batch job.
The bank almost didn't open on time because of this. I stayed out of
the political fall out thankfully.
