You said, that the ++FEATURE and ++PRODUCT records are in the same
file than the product MCS (++FUNCTION etc.) itself. I think at least
in my case that's not true.

Actually, I said they are in the same "logical" file. In the old days, they were in fact in the same physical file on tape, but I know today for internet orders there are multiple physical archive files containing MCS for FUNCTIONs, PTFs, ASSIGNs, PRODUCT, FEATURE that together make up the single logical SMPPTFIN file.

So, if you use GIMUNZIP directly (what I had done) and not RECEIVE
FROMNTS you'll miss the ++FEATURE and ++ PRODUCT.

Ah hah, that explains why they are missing... selective unzipping.

(The reason for doing GIMUNZIP directly was, that I haven't a running
SMPNTS environment at that time and GIMUNZIP gives you normal MVS
files instead of USS stuff, which one can use in old fashioned z/OS
SMP/E jobs, but now I changed my environment to use RECEIVE
FROMNTS.)

I think this is an improvement, and I'm glad you got this situation resolved.
