This it is! That step alone should ensure there are no ill consequences. This what I (and others) did during creating+preparing of LPARs during Y2K testing... I have been advised by IBM to create brand new things so no live LPARs are hurt in any way. Of course HMC was somewhat different than it is used now, but the principle is still the same AFAIK.
