I don't understand.
I have yellow FICON cable plugged to some port in my DASD box. Since
there are no "chpid numbers" I can describe it as "first from the left
on the highest bank". It should be plugged to CHP 54 in my CPC P0012345,
which is currently not powered on. And there is some yellow cable. Hold
on! Almost all FICON (SM) cables are yellow! Is it THE cable or some
other cable? Should I dive below the floor and check?
Sorry, the only way to keep it in order is to put some (unique) labels
on both end of the cable. And my advice: do NOT put CHP number or other
port ID there! Reason: cable can be replugged.
BTW: There are also other cables like OSA (copper and fiber), SE-HMC,
etc. All of them are worth to be documented.
