With Country Multiplex Pricing IBM announced "Multiplex Version Measurement"
which removed the 12-month time frame for converting to new versions of MLC
products (DB2 V10 to DB2 V11, MQ V7 to MQ V8). This week with US announcement
Announcement 217-093 it has been renamed to "Multi-Version Measurement and it
now applies to those not using Country Multiplex also.

I need an example to explain, let's continue with DB2 V10 to DB2 V11 on a 1000
MSU environment. For sites using SCRT for sub-capacity charging the tool would
report both versions. During the SVC period IBM would charge for the version
with the greatest number of MSUs at the price of the new version. If you were
60% converted SCRT might be reporting 600 MSUs for V11 and perhaps 500 MSUs for
V10. Some of those V10 MSUs could be in LPARs without V11 installed yet. You
would be charged for 600 MSUs of V11. The V10 MSUs in LPARs without V11 were
not charged for because of SVC.

Now with MVM SCRT continues to report DB2 V11 at 600 MSUs and DB2 V10 at 500
MSUs. These will be added together, but also limited by the z/OS MSUs for MVM.
Even across all your LPARs if z/OS is using 900 MSUs for it's maximum
simultaneous 4HRA it would be unfair to charge 1,100 MSUs of DB2. So SCRT adds
a new line "DB2 (ALL)" and that line will report 900 MSUs, it will never be
larger than z/OS. You will be charged for 900 MSUs of DB2 V11.

IPLA products will work similarly, and now do not have their 6 month conversion
period.

This will begin with the April 2-May 1 SCRT data, submitted between May 2 and
May 9. The changes will show up on the June 1st invoices. New releases of SCRT
(Classic or Java) will be available April 10th to add the functionality to
report the (ALL) line.

Of course LCS will be updated to support this new functionality for my
licensees!
