I see you have gotten many answers on this.
If you use USER LOG Datasets (as specified in IKJTSOxx, or use PARMLIB command in ISPF) then the NOTIFY goes to the USER LOG dataset. Then only SEND messages go to SYS1.BRODCAST and retrieved with LISTBC command. If you do not user USER LOG datasets, then it goes to SYS1.BRODCAST and UPDATE would be needed. Are you having an issue with managing SYS1.BRODCAST? Is it filling up? If so there is a brodcast utility on CBTTAPE.ORG that can help with that.
