I mentioned that issue with regard to a different example (that used storage references, for example, where the current architecture would allow TMLH and LLILF instead) to an IBMer whose name you would recognize in an instant. I offered to supply a better example and submit it as an RCF if he would vet it. He was adamant that he had zero interest in such an endeavor.
I guess good enough is good enough. It's an algorithm, not a programming class.
