Yes ...and no.
For regular process yes. Assuming you have to send huge amount of data
to "foreign" company - it can be easier to send (encrypted) cart. Last,
but not least - installation material is an example when we do not care
to much about data secrecy, but "external media" is something we like.
Of course my example was just to show we lost some functionality with
lack of support of native tapes.
