There is nothing wrong with having your LNKLST data sets be SMS-managed. There is nothing wrong with having PDSEs in the LNKLST. >Update your LNKLST dynamically. Sure. But do not use LNKLST UPDATE JOB(*) unless you are willing to accept any fallout (which can be from "none" to "incorrect results" to "abends" to, conceivably, "wait state"). I don't know if the books ever used the phrasing I always use for describing that operation -- unpredictably dangerous. Regardless, it is at your risk. If your choice is between doing that and re-IPLing, you might well roll the dice and hope for the best.
