I'll suggest that when/if you get a fixtest you try also with trailing blanks.
It's possible that BPXWDYN now truncates before the first blank and they
imagine that the fix is to truncate after the last non-blank.

Most INFO replies are fixed-length, such as DDN(8) and DSN(44), and BPXWDYN
may think it's doing you a favor by stripping blanks which could cause syntax
errors if fed back into BPXWDYN(ALLOC/FREE ...)
