Like any circumvention, it mqy be practical, but the underlying
defect should be fixed.

Agreed. My question should be rephrased to something like "are you aware
you can circumvent the problem by changing pathname? Can you change it?"
Of course "out of curiosity" issues are worth discussion and solution,
but usually do not block someone's work.
