We’re wading into the HMC System Monitor app in order to get additional alerts for significant events. Unfortunately we can’t figure how to get beyond Square 1. It goes like this.
On HMC task list, select Monitor System Events, which shows this list of 'permitted objects': Adapters, BladeCenters, Blades, Ensemble, HMC Optical Network, Managed VM, Partitions, Systems, Virtual Servers, Workloads, None. Up comes a screen entitled Event Monitor Summary, which displays this list of monitors: Accelerator Crypto HW Msg Example Network OS Msg Example Partition Processor (CPU) Security Log Example State Change Example Storage Each item is selectable, but no matter which one we select with Add or Edit, we get this message: There are no defined objects to monitor for the event type of the selected monitor. Select a monitor with a different event type or define an object that can be monitored for the event type of the selected monitor. ACT04318 We have poked around--including Google searches--until our fingers are calloused, but we cannot find out how to 'define an object'. The particular monitor we're interested in is Processor (CPU), but the missing object issue seems to affect all listed options. Has anyone delved into this arena? . .
