If your organization goes with an IBM replacement for an ISV product
DF/Sort for Syncsort RMM for CA-1 or SDSF for EJes, will the net
software bill for those functions go up or down since the IBM software
is separately priced. Conversion costs money. Definitely someone
should be reviewing all software regardless of vendor to make certain
that it is needed in the reduced environment and if so that the price
reflects the reducing environment. Unless the z system is totally
isolated from the Internet, staying current on maintenance is a
necessity.

It may well be that the whole system should be contracted to a z
series service bureau because of the reduced people support available
at your site.

A definite plan for all data currently on the system is needed, even
if it is just electronic shredding.
