> DFP catalogs

?

DFP supported the CVOLs introduced by OS/360, the VSAM catalogs introduced by
VSAM and the ICF catalogs introduced by DF/EF. DFP did not introduce a new
catalog structure.

I remember having multiple PTF tapes and seriously questioning whether
it would be safe for me to go to SHARE in that initial period. The
system had stabilized enough so that it was. Maybe we were earlier
users of DFP than your shop was. It is long enough ago that I do not
remember the details or how we came to be earlier installers if we
were but it may have been due to a requirement for the DFP catalogs as
opposed to VSAM and CVOLs, I do remember giving a BOF attended by
Rick Steffee from Naval Intelligence that caused him to get with his
IBM team before installing DFP.

Normally my shop was trailing edge such that when a leak from the
ceiling caused our mod 65 while we were in the process of installing
MVS on a 4341, we had to put MVT on the 4341. Thanks to having
attended a SHARE session on doing so and help from Rick Steffee of
Naval Inteligence, Brian Scott of Volume Shoe and Paul Dalman of army
records we were able to a successful Sysgen and be up in two days from
the outage. We had to lie and gen the system as a 158.
