For VSE - I suggest checking your IPL deck for the SVA : GETVIS=(2M,3M) or (1M,2M) also the review your PSIZE : Increasing partition sizes in the ALLOC.PROC 'virtual size' MAP CMD For VM - Directory setting for the VSE server machines be as MACH XA? ** end of e-mail ** -----Original Message----- From: The IBM z/VM Operating System [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tom Duerbusch Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 10:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: VM 4.4 & VSE 2.4....
We had VSE/ESA 2.3.2 running on z/VM 4.1 and z/VM 4.2 and VSE/ESA 2.5.1 under z/VM 4.2 on the MP3000 H30. No problems. When you say the guest is looping, is it the VSE supervisor or a VSE partition? What does "now going into the VSE panels" (3) Operations (6) System Status (1) Display System Activity, tell you? (i.e. all VSE systems have basic tools on them) Also, to prevent a high priority, looping partition from locking everything below it out, change your "prty" command to use the "share" type. i.e. PRTY G=Z=D=M=N=BG=FA=F9=F7=F6=F5=F4=F8=L=O=P=F2,FB,F3,F1 PRTY SHARE,Z=10,D=10,M=10,N=10,BG=50,FA=50,F9=50,F7=50,F6=50,F5=50 PRTY SHARE,F4=50,G=100,L=10,P=50,O=20 All partitions will get some cpu cycles. Really great when you are using IP functions as they won't time out. Tom Duerbusch THD Consulting >>> Lee Stewart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 6/19/2007 7:54 PM >>> Hi all... This is a real shot in the dark, but in case anyone else has bumped into it.... We have a VERY back level client (VSE 2.4 under VM 3.1) who is trying to move into the 21st century. Their plan is to update VM to 4.4 (last one that will run on their MP3000), then to upgrade VSE to 2.6, then on to a zSeries, and more current VM and VSE releases... They also have no tools on VM or VSE to see what is going on... VM 4.4 IPLs fine and seems to run ok. But when they bring up their VSE guests (with CICS), sooner or later one of the guests starts looping and has to be logged off. Which guest loops and how long it takes to start looping varies... Anyone tried to move VSE 2.4 to VM 4.4? If not we'll probably have to try and trace it and track it that way... Thanks for any suggestions...
