I suspect the file isn't using cr/lf (X'0D0A') between the records. Download
it as binary and look at it in hex.

I download everything as binary and use a pipe to deblock it and translate from
ascii to ebcidic.

I'll supply my pipeline if you need it.

Good Luck.

Jim

Subject: DTCFTC0392E File transfer aborted. Input string is too long

We are trying to FTP GET a file from a foreign host.

We enter: get bbbb_SSS_GG_THISLONGNAMES_20070815.xml MYVMFIL.xml

The system returns:
DTCFTC0392E File transfer aborted. Input string is too long

Is there a restriction on the GET that the filename to be gotten cannot be 37
bytes?

Is there a way around this? Is it our VM system or the foreign system with the
restriction?

Jim
