I'm not sure about VM but on z/OS there are certain things that chan't
be chg'ed dynamically is a CVC connection one of them?
Are you set for dynamic changes set on? Do you have enough HAS to make
the change?

Subject: Dynamic update problems

Hello all!
I am in a bit of a bind. We just acquired a new
(used) printer, Infoprint 4000/IS1, with ESCON
connection. Until now we used a 3900 with bus/tag
on a CVC channel, with a converter (9043?).

I need to set up definitions for it, but unfortunately
I have been out on medical leave, and am going *tonight*
to be hospitalized for surgery followed by several
weeks of recuperation. I got home from the hospital
last night for a break, and logged in from home to try
to set things up. (Sorry about the personal stuff, but
it explains my rush...)

Following the 'lockstep method' I did these operations:
1) updated my IOCP file, and successfully compiled it.
2) made dynamic changes with CP commnds

I wanted to write to the IOCDS at this point, but my
contact at work had left early, so there was still a
write-protect on it.
This morning he turned off the write-protect on A3,
and I continued:

3) wrote the new IOCP to IOCDS A3.
4) *tried* to SET IOCDS_ACTIVE A3.

Step 4 failed. :-(
HCPZQY6812E SET IOCDS_ACTIVE COMMAND FAILED WITH RETURN CODE
0088

So as I understand this message, the token in the CSS
(which I guess is the result of the dynamic changes I
made yesterday) does not match the token in the IOCDS
(which I just stored).

What exactly does this mean?
a) that the IOCP really does not match what I did dynamically?
b) the token in the CSS is dated yesterday, but the IOCDS is
from today?
c) some other problem?

And what can I do now?

All help will be much appreciated!
Shimon
