If this idea got combined with the virtual SAN switch idea, you could do quite a bit with it. The SVC microcode already understands iSCSI and if I understand the innards well enough, we'd just need some new device drivers inside the SVC virtual machine to handle however z/VM presented the virtual SAN interfaces and devices, which is a much less daunting task. Hmm....
