Hi,

I am still working with this before I re-build system test system.

This LPAR does not have a console (need to get cables to connect it) so
I only have the HMC system console. I got as far as getting the LPAR to
load to this console and I see what my problem was (HCPZPM6705E) as I
thought I had a finger check. The problem is that the SAL is not
appearing on this console so even if I had a copy of the SYSTEM CONFIG
file I could not do much anyway, is this true?

The thing I have is OPERATOR on this HMC console which is where I see
the CONFIG error message above. Am I not doing something correctly to
get the SAL during the load from the HMC?

Any other ideas?

Thank You,

Terry Martin

To get the backup copy of the system config file that Terry might have,
he needs to know how to get to the SAPL screen first.
That's where he's hung up.

Terry, put CONSnnnn in your loadparm field to see your SAPL screen,
where nnnn is the HW device address of the console.

This is something that I commented on (read "complained about") a couple
of months ago. I *ALWAYS* keep the previous nuc or SYSTEM CONFIG file.
I promote it from CF1 to CF2 with the same or default name. I leave the
previous file on CF1 renamed, at least, the FN. A finger check does not
have to spell disaster. IBM's PUT2PROD, as far as CP nuc handling is a
disaster waiting to happen, or at the very least it is not very
intuitive. If I get a call from an operator in the middle of the night
that the nuc won't load, it's easier to tell him/her to switch to CF2
and ipl using the default CPLOAD MODULE and SYSTEM CONFIG.

1010 is "cannot find console" - Did you bring up the "Integrated

Did you run CPSYNTAX before the SHUTDOWN RIEPL? I alwasy "acc
193 g" (to
pick up the CPSYNTAX command), then "cpsyntax system config f"
(or
whichever disk CF1 is accessed as) before ReIPLing.
