Yes, it would be. But it won't ever be done if people don't submit requirements or get their names attached to existing ones. :-) The one thing you must not to do a tape cartridge is degauss it. If you do, the servo tracks are destroyed and must be re-initialized before the tape can be used. z/OS will prompt you and ask if it is ok to initialize a scrogged tape. z/VM will not.
