When the guest is using layer 2 support ("Option: Ethernet"), it does not
register IP addresses with the OSA, but instead registers a "virtual" MAC
address.
Unless you override it on the device driver configuration, the registered
MAC address will be the preset value generated by you or CP. If no MAC
address has been preset (i.e. no z/VM), then you must supply one in the
device driver configuration.
