No, I meant F1028. That is very prominent in the instructions. The files do
DETERSE to the V 4095 format which is the proper one for that type of
expansion. And, after DETERSE, the files do have what appears to be legit data.
The first record of the expanded DDR1 file starts with 24 bytes of binary data
followed by this:
ICKDSF CREATE DATE: AUG 22, 2008 TIME: 14:57:06ICKDSF CREATE DATE: AUG
22, 2008 TIME: 14:57:06
Then there is a byte of x'00' followed by the sequence number DSF00001. The
original TERSnnn files are F 1024; however, COPYFILE UNPACK fails, saying that
they are not in packed format.

Richard Schuh

The recfm/blksize are F/1024.
* I DETERSEd the ones identified as the System DDR. These files are V/4095.
Now what? I find conflicting instructions. Depending on where I look, I see
(1) no DETERSE step, which cannot be right for these files, with instructions
that say that the files must be fixed/1028, which fits neither the before nor
after DETERSE lrecl, or (2) the DETERSE step is included followed by a
reference to a non-existent manual.
I see no reason to DETERSE the other files until I have, as Paul Harvey used to
say, "the rest of the story." That will only give me more files that I will
probably have to erase when I must try some different download.
I opened an ETR after running around in circles until I was dizzy on the
support web site pointed to by the notification letter. I have no idea when I
will get a response. The list is usually faster. Please Help!!!
Ah, you newbies :-)
No, seriously, this sounds messed up. Suggest looking at the first few bytes of
the files that say something about F 1024 (I assume you meant 1024, not 1028),
see if they look COPYFILE (PACKed. Yes, I realize TERSEing is "better" but this
is just a diagnostic). If it's PACKed it'll have an F or a V in column 4). If
so, that's a start.
P.S. For those who don't know Richard, he's been doing this a VERY long time.
If he's confused, something's messed up.
