If the VSWITCH is defined with the ETHERNET option, it is layer 2. If you let it default to (or specify) the IP option, it is layer 3. Only z/OS is limited to layer 3. Everyone else (with current software) can use layer 2. Alan Altmark z/VM Development IBM Endicott
