Comment #9 on issue 392 by scottro11: ibus works with gnome desktop but not with window managers like fluxbox
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=392
Ah, I can't edit the old comment. I'm not sure what you meant by typo. My meaning is, if I install Fedora, choose minimal, and afterwards add X and fluxbox, it doesn't work. If I install Gnome, or kdebase, then it will work in fluxbox. The point being that there are apparently some packages that the desktop environments are bringing in, that seem necessary for ibus to work properly. Whichever packages these are should be included in the ibus-anthy rpm's requirements--it shouldn't be necessary to install a DE for it to work in a Window manager.
In contrast, in Arch Linux, I install its default fairly minimal installation, then install fluxbox, then install ibus-anthy and ibus-anthy works.
To test (if you have a VM and inclination) try a Fedora or if you want to try RH, Scientific Linux 6 alpha, and do a minimal installation. Afterwards, add an X environment with yum install x11-xorg-\*.
Now install ibus-anthy and try to set it up. (Really, it should work in twm as well.) I will try the solution in comment #3 late tonight, of putting ibus-daemon & in front of exec startfluxbox and see if that works.
