Comment #22 on issue 526 by [email protected]: Dead keys (^`~ etc) don't
work in XIM programs

I have this same problem in Opera. Using ibus to type Korean implies losing
the ability to use plain xkbd layouts to type dead keys for Catalan and
Spanish, my native languages:

Is any developer actually working on this? I think there is a cultural
misunderstanding here between multilingual users of non-English European
languages and ibus developers, who seem to be mostly Asian and very
Anglo-centered, believing that pairing English with a single native
language is enough.
I know that I can enable latn-pre or some other module to type dead keys,
but those methods are hard-coded to use the US keyboard layout and are a
big drawback to touch-typists using non-US keyboards: remember that pretty
much all symbols are scrambled around becouse of this. It reduces my typing
speed to a quarter or less and makes typing very cumbersome.
Allow me to remind you that this is a big flaw that will prevent ibus to
become popular in Europe and Latin America. Please fix it!
