Got this feature implemented. But I found the icons representing each IM are not hilightened or in a "correct" position when I keeping meta pressed and pressing "space" to switch IM.
And it only work each time I press meta+space to select IM. ibus-1.4.99.20121109-2.fc18.x86_64
