Comment #19 on issue 1617 by [email protected]: Add support for Wayland
input method protocol
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1617
With recent changes to Wayland by Daiki Ueno, the scanner patch is not
necessary anymore, I have updated my wayland_client branch to reflect the
changes.
About the status icon, I am not really sure, but there is no such concept
of a systray in Wayland/Weston, as this is something peculiar to a desktop
shell. Currently there is work in progress on the implementation of a new
shell (xdg-shell) that could solve this issue, but the work is still at
initial state.
All in all, as stated on before, the UI is more a demo, as it is basically
a copy and paste of Gtk3 UI. I guess it is not only unnecessary, but also
undesirable to have a specific UI for Wayland. The same results could be
achieved by changing the Gtk3 UI so it can run both under X and Wayland.
So, what do you think about the current status of the Wayland support
patch? Do you think it is possible to integrate it now that it is done in a
proper way after Daiki's changes?
