Comment #2 on issue 1662 by [email protected]: [NewFeatures] Saving
engine's local mode for next boot
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1662
Let us consider users who need xkb engines such as Arabic layout. They must
use xkb:en::us for direct input. When they want to use anthy, they need to
switch to Anthy by Super+Space and then switch to Hiragana mode by
Ctrl+Space if initial mode is permanently Eisu.
I think this would be each engine issue and maybe I will move this
category to ibus-anthy later
since here does not maintain mozc.
This will be also an issue with documents for plugin developers. If this
design rule change is not clearly documented, it would causes inconsistency
among ibus-* engines.
I also think ibus-daemon should be able to control engines local (input)
mode via APIs and manage their initial mode to prevent implementations of
engines complex.
