Joe, Am I missing something here ? I don't know what model your boat is. Nor do I assume that yours is like my 1984, But, If you are simply REMOVING the winch, Why would you want to "Disassemble" ?
Again, I'm not sure how your boat laid out, but on mine.. There are TWO round Screw Covers Down below in the cabin, that are "Inspection Ports" for the winches. One Starboard side, up on the inside molded overhead, and on the Port side aft of the Galley, above the sink. Each inspection port is about 5 inches in Diameter and when unscrewed, one can see the bolts and nuts of the winch mounting. I've never taken my winches off, but it looks like a wrench could be stuck in there to remove the nuts. Then the winches should just simply "Fall" off, still assembled. As is often said.. "Your mileage may vary"... LOL Good luck, Ralph Ahseln "Oblio" Gresham OR ----- Original Message ----- From: Joe McCary To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, March 27, 2009 8:55 AM Subject: [IC27A] Help with standard winches I have recently purchased a pair of Lewmar 30ST winches to replace the standard Barient 16s on the boat. Does anyone know how to disassemble the standard winch to remove it? Thanks for your help.
