My $.02 Yes, I replaced with AGMs. Conversion is not needed as AGM's have the same charge rules as wet cells.
It's hard, or not hard, to justify the cost. They are quite more expensive! I use Optima's purchased from Sam's. They are a little smaller the 27s, but Optima provide a spacer free of charge, just call and ask for two. They are one of my better upgrades.
