I'm looking into that as well, from a slightly different perspective. I was shocked when I looked under the starboard settee and saw the BIG USCG documentation label on the hull. So, to answer your question, it would appear a C27 meets the tonnage requirement. Pitfalls? Hmmm. Not sure....
