I made them, although gates are for sale on the Catalina site on the net. For
these problem slides to work, I would have had to countersink the surface to
make it flush with the rest of the slot.

As far as I know, mast gates are always either hand made custom or after
  market.

  Who made your mast gates?

Subject: [IC27A] New FX Mainsail but with sail slide problems

I have just bought a full batten main from FX Sails, but the sail slides
they provided on the ends of the four full battens can't pass through the
mast gate. I have a standard rig, sail#821, with an extruded slot in the
mast. The sail slides are 5/8" and the other slides pass the gate with no
difficulty, but there are different slides on the ends of the full battens,
which are prevented from passing through the gate because they have a foot
surface outside the slot as well as inside (the others have only the
attaching loop protruding from the slot).
Has anyone else run into this situation? Thanks. Gary
