I've uploaded an image I drew of the mast gates Jim Calleran made for BayBird. The noteworthy aspect of these is the plate is not sitting on top track lip but is projected out flush with the lip of the sail track. They are very similar to a set I made for a newer style mast with a flush track. You may need to view the original size image to see how the gate fits.
I don't know if this would clear your full batten slugs but I think it would be a step in the right direction. For these problem slides to work, I would have had to countersink the surface to make it flush with the rest of the slot. ----- Original Message ----- From: Phil Agur To: ic...@yahoogroups. <mailto:IC27A%40yahoogroups.com> com Sent: Monday, September 07, 2009 7:34 PM Subject: RE: [IC27A] New FX Mainsail but with sail slide problems As far as I know, mast gates are always either hand made custom or after market. Who made your mast gates? I have a standard rig, sail#821, with an extruded slot in the mast. The sail slides are 5/8" and the other slides pass the gate with no difficulty, but there are different slides on the ends of the full battens, which are prevented from passing through the gate because they have a foot surface outside the slot as well as inside (the others have only the attaching loop protruding from the slot). Has anyone else run into this situation? Thanks.
