Yes you can. But the Moyer kit includes a cover for the old mechanical pump 
hole, a mounting bracket attached to the cover, an oil pressure cut-off switch, 
fuel filter, plumbing parts, wiring, and instructions.

I did mine with the kit, and didn't have to make any surprise trips to the 
hardware store.
