Anybody in the warmer (kinda), more southern climate of the Cheasapeake have an opinion on how mandatory a cockpit tent is? Not nearly the amount of snowfall as our friends to the north get, but is a winter frame necessary upon haul out?

Worst case scenario. Your cockpit scuppers get ice dammed or blocked with debris, your cockpit fills with water/slush, the water goes by the hatch boards and fills your entire boat with water up to the level of the top of the cockpit coaming. Your inboard is ruined, as is your entire interior. You will likely cause structural damage to your hull. I am also curious if most feel a cover is mandatory in the north (snow, ice, long winter!). What is the worst case scenario if no cover is in place?
