My last boat has a boom kicker. It works great. It's comprised of two
fiberglass rods under compresion, counter acting the boomvang. Boom angle is
now adjusted by tinghtening or loosening the boomvang. My only complaint was
that the boom kicker creaks if the boom isn't sheeted in tight. This meant we
couldn't leave the boom swumg to one side when sleeping.

Merry Christmas, Mike

  Subject: [IC27A] Boomvang

I am interested in equipping Barjoh with a rigid boomvang. I am a cruiser and
not interested in something high tech and cost a lot. I am mainly interested in
alleviating the need for a topping lift. I noted the C27 on the cover of the
Nov. 2009 Mainsheet. Is that what they call a boomkicker? Any
suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

By the way, the boat on the cover of the Nov Mainsheet is a very nice looking
27. Congrats to its owner.
