Paul,

Understood.
Sometimes we gotta do, what we gotta do ! LOL

I DO want to congratulate you on your wisdom of using the existing Transducer
and finding a Sounder that will work.
Too often we see here and on other sailing list, folks who worry about using
"Mix and Match" gear.
It would be great if some expert would write a short article about why it would
work. Also why there are two standard frequencies to be aware of.

You might do a Calibration test at your moorage before you cruise. There may be
a little Off Set because of slight mismatching of parts.
If so, there may be an adjustment you can make on the electronics.

Best of the Best,
ralph

Subject: [IC27A] Re: Electronics mounting at the wheel helm

Ralph,
This is a good point crew-coordination wise. The problem here is the particular
gauge I've found is made to be bracket versus flush mounted. I already have two
4-inch holes drilled in my bulkhead that are used for: a non-working stereo
speaker and a plugged vent hole. I really don't prefer to drill/cut any more
holes in the back of the cabin than I already have. If I could find a depth
display that would both match my transducer and fit in one of the
aforementioned holes, I'd be more than happy to mount it up there...

Regards,
Paul
