Just a follow up from Catalina.
 They said "The 27 has always had a solid fiberglass hand laminated hull 
without coring.  On boats built before 1988 there was some wood reinforcement 
in the keel stub area, but that can be removed if needed and would not be 
effected by external blisters."

Makes me feel a little better.
Still waiting on the survey, should be this week.
