I don't think that's a realistic expectation.  That's one reason to 
always try and buy a boat that someone else has already restored.  I 
used to collect old Jaguars before I got into sailing, and at the time, 
a full-up professional restoration of an E-type cost about $125K.  When 
it was done, you could sell the car for around $60K - depending on the 
model year.  I'm not that great at math, but even I could see that 
buying a car, fixing it up, and then trying to sell it for a profit just 
didn't add up.

Looks like boats are the same.  It would have to be an extremely rare 
collectible boat that you bought dirt-cheap to have any hope of getting 
your money back.
