I don't know the actual production totals for the Catalina 27 but I am sure that they were made long after 1982. My hull number is 6298 and it was built in 1986. In a message dated 3/4/2010 12:29:02 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes:
I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that a total of 6,600 Catalina 27s were built over the life of the original model. My information shows that the first year of production was 1971, but I'm not sure when the last were made (probably about 1982). Also, does anyone have any idea of how many were built in California and how many were built in British Columbia? If my information is correct, Cooper built Catalina 27s in B.C. from 1973 to 1981, then destroyed his molds. I'm asking this as background for a magazine article (Pacific Yachting) I'm writing on Catalina 27 modifications owners have made, as seen at our first ever B.C. C27 rendezvous held last summer.
