I previously owned a 1986 Catalina 22. That was the year they switched
from the windows with the aluminum frame to all lexan.
Phil is right on with 1992 as possibly the last year also. We have C270
#10 in our harbor, and its a 1993 model.

Hi Peter,

C27 Cat Nip Hull #1 was produced in 1970 and is currently in Pensacola
Florida. The last one I have a record for is C27 Agios Nikolaos II Hull #
6653 which was produced in 1989 and is currently in Green Bay Wisconsin.
Logically there could have been C27s built up 1992 but I have no record of
that. Since all new boats came with a pre-paid 1 year IC27A membership the
1989 number should be pretty good.

When it comes down to the term "original model" are you breaking it
between
C27s and C270s or models within the C27 production? I think we had a
thread
this year where owners rung in on window configuration that could break it
between the "Old Styles" and the "New Styles". I believe that was around
1984-85 but I would have to confirm that as it was earlier in time than I
expected.

Do you happen to have manufacturer's identification code for Cooper?

Cheers,

Subject: [IC27A] Catalina 27 history

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that a total of 6,600 Catalina 27s
were
built over the life of the original model. My information shows that the
first year of production was 1971, but I'm not sure when the last were
made
(probably about 1982). Also, does anyone have any idea of how many were
built in California and how many were built in British Columbia? If my
information is correct, Cooper built Catalina 27s in B.C. from 1973 to
1981,

then destroyed his molds.

I'm asking this as background for a magazine article (Pacific Yachting)
I'm
writing on Catalina 27 modifications owners have made, as seen at our
first
ever B.C. C27 rendezvous held last summer.
