I have also gone through several of the plastic Nicro vents.  The UV dries out
the plastic cover in a just a few years; the stainless is a much safer bet.

I've got two Nicro Day and Night solar vent, one on each boat.  The older
one is least 10 years old, and still going strong.  It's on it's 4th or 5th
replacemnt battery from Radio Shack.    I have two of the stainless ones. I
broke a plastic one the first year.

I installed a Nicro solar vent over a decade ago and have replaced the battery
a couple of times.  It has worked flawlessly.

Has anyone installed a solar powered air vent for a C 27? I'm looking at
replacing the old, yellowed vent on my '74 C 27 with a solar powered vent that
runs on its own battery by night. West marine sells them, but the customer
reviews on their site are negative. Anyone have better luck? Thanks, Rob aboard
