I'll assume there are no potential thieves out there and give you a
hint about how worthless most padlocks are. If you take two large
screwdrivers, insert them at opposing 45 degree angles through the
shackle, and quickly jerk them to the opposite position, you will pull
out the shackle of all but the very best locks. Don't ask me how I
know.

Besides, suppose you lose the keys. What then?
Do you use a pry bar or claw hammer to pull the hasp off, and strip
the screws out of the wood, or cut through the hasp with a cut-off
wheel on a "Dremel" tool? I guess I'd check the price of a new hasp
before deciding.
