I checked that out. The brand name of the insoles is Polar Wrap and their site ( polarwrap.com/default.aspx?pid=2&sid=207&show= ) referred me to stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/photo/aerogel.html.
It's the same stuff in a different form. Advertising shows bare feet on the insoles standing on a block of dry ice. For clothing it's been tested from Mt. Everest to Death valley. Might just work in the galley. Tim I would doubt you have insoles made out of the stuff. The actual insulating material is a powder suspended in a felt like product.
