Hi Mike,

Yes, on a C270.

About five feet forward of the mast on centerline at the bottom of the
fiberglass bulkhead that forms the back of the forward portion of the settee
or the base of the V berth depend on how you want to think about it. I'll
take photos on request if you need them.

The wire routing is along the main harness under the aft state room into the
port side channel by the bilge pump, along the bottom of the fascia for the
galley cabinets, up along the harness to behind the electrical panel then
into the front loop conduit.

Cheers,

Subject: [IC27A] Raymarine X-5 Installation

Hey folks,

I installed a Raymarine X-5 Wheel Pilot on my Catalina 270 this past
weekend. In addition to figuring out that the wires for the wheel motor are
incorrectly diagrammed in the manual, I still have compass problems.

I am pretty sure it's because I installed it only a few inches from the
macerator, although there aren't too many great spots to put it.

Has anyone installed the Fluxgate compass for this model or any other model
autopilot on their 27 or 270? If so, I'd love to hear suggestions about
where you mounted it to get the least bit of magnetic interference as well
as the least amount of pitch and roll.

Many thanks,

Mike Keller
