I have a Garmin chart plotter that I use more than merely sailing to a compass heading. Being a cruiser I am more often heading to a port than out, about, and home again. David Have you experienced any problems with your autopilot "hunting" to stay on course. Mine hunts so bad sometimes it actually turns the boat through the wind backwinding the jib. It has worked out well for me. If you would like pictures of it's installation, let me know and I will send them to you. Eastern Daylight Time, mkel...@michaelkellin a message d Hey folks, I installed a Raymarine X-5 Wheel Pilot on my Catalina 270 this past weekend. In addition to figuring out that the wires for the wheel motor are i ncorrectly diagrammed in the manual, I still have compass problems. I am pretty sure it's because I installed it only a few inches from the macerator, although there aren't too many great spots to put it. Has anyone installed the Fluxgate compass for this model or any other model autopilot on their 27 or 270? If so, I'd love to hear suggestions about where you mounted it to get the least bit of magnetic interference as well as the least amount of pitch and roll.
