Sewing is always the "Best".. either overlap the tear or Patching.. ZigZag stitch if possible.... Almost any home sewing machine should work.. The problem here is the space to do the sewing.
But there are other methods.. One Quick and easy Non-sewing method .. Depending on the size and condition of the tear.. Believe it or not.... 3 M 5200 .... A thin coating of 5200 on one edge and length of the tear, Overlap the fabric and allow to cure. 5200 will hold the material nearly as good as a sewing. If the tear is too large to overlap cleanly... Then you'll need a Patch of similar fabric (Ripstop Nylon ? )... Again, if sewing can't be done, Try the 5200 method... A thin layer of the sealant on the edges of the patch and apply to the torn area..
