I'd recommend that you patch it with .75 rip-stop nylon sail repair tape for
spinnakers.  It comes in 2" x25' rolls, and in colors too.  It's got adhesive
backing.   It's very strong, and you won't need to stitch the edges.  Cut it an
inch longer than the slit.  If it's a clean rip, just apply it to one side, rub
it to bond well and you're done. If there's a hole (rather than a slit), you
may need to apply tape to the other side of the sail to cover the hole.  But if
possible, just apply it to one side.

You can buy it at www.Sailrite.com , Boaters World or West Marine, etc. for
less than $10 a roll.  It's made by Bainbridge Sailcloth and others.  It's the
right stuff for spinnies.  I don't recommend you use tent repair tape.

If you need to repair a bigger hole, you can buy matching nylon from Sailrite,
stick it to the sail with seam tape, and use a home sewing maching.  You can
buy UV resistant thread from Sailrite.  Or you can replace a whole panel, using
seam tape. It's not hard with the tape holding the seam together.

HTH,
Judy B

Subject: [IC27A] Repair to an asymmetric spinnaker

Hi all, I have a couple of tears in the light weight sail material of my
asimetci spinnakers and was wondering what the best method for repair would be?
Thank you in advance.
