Elmers makes a product called Slide All Dry Teflon Spray  Lubricant  that 
works great for me. I comes in a white and blue  aerosol spray can with an 
orange cap. It leaves an almost invisible dusty white  film that disappears 
shortly. Spray it in the luff groove and it should slide  more easily than 
before.
